Wii

The Wii is the 5th home video game console released by Nintendo from Japan, and it is the direct successor to the Nintendo GameCube. It competes with both the Microsoft Xbox 360 and Sony PlayStation 3 as part of the 7th generation of video game systems.

A distinguishing feature of the console is its wireless controller (called the Wii Remote), which can be used as a handheld pointing device and detects movement in three dimensions. Another is WiiConnect24, which enables it to receive messages and updates over the Internet while in standby mode.

The Wii targets a broader demographic than other popular game systems, especially parents and even the elderly.
